12 Life Tips from Islamic Teaching

Islam is a complete code of life. It is a religion which does not only tell rules about life after death but it also defines rules for worldly life so that we human beings should not harm ourselves due to unawareness about things. Sometimes we don’t understand orders but when getting indulges in more knowledge we know that the order is especially in our benefit. Here we are going to tell some Islamic teachings regarding our health which is beneficial for us.


Consuming alcohol is prohibited

As we all know that alcohol consumption is prohibited by Islam. It is due to the fact that it negatively affects brain by reducing concentration in things we do which cause accidents; it causes many diseases like cirrhosis in liver. And if one suffers from anemia, cancer, heart disease or Alzheimer, it worsens these conditions.


Pork eating is prohibited

Islam orders us to not to eat pork or pig’s meat though it is the meat that many people consume outside the Islamic world.  We can have many diseases like diarrhea, dehydration etc. if we try to eat pork. That’s because pig is the most filthy animal of the earth it eats its own waste material so its long term eating, you’ll end up doing filthy things.


Diet in moderate way

Islam always focuses on doing things in a reasonable middling way. Things in huge quantity or in very low quantity are never appreciable so Islam orders this about diet too as It also explains in Quran; “eat and drink, and do not cross limits; indeed He does not like the transgressors” Surah e Araf verse 31. And it also explains quite clearly in a Hadith of Sunan Ibn Majah; “Miqdam bin Madikarib said:

“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one third of food, one third for drink and one third for air. (Reference: vol 4, book 29, Hadith no. 3349)

This clears that too much eating is never healthy for us as it causes obesity and some other health problems related to obesity. Likewise eating in small quantity would also lacking essential nutrients for survival and doing routine work.


Doing miswak after every meal

RasoolAllah ﷺ was habitual of using miswak and liked for us to use it as it is explained in a Hadith;

Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The Miswak (tooth-stick) cleanses and purifies the mouth and pleases the Rubb.”

Miswak actually cleansed that food which stuck within our teeth that can cause teeth decay and gum infections.


Washings hands before every meal

Prophet (peace be upon Him) use to wash and strongly advise everyone to wash hands before and even after meals which according to Him is a blessing. Also one should not clean hands with towel before meal because of transmission of infections.


Self cleaning

Islam stresses that one should clean himself and his clothes as much as possible as it is already known Hadith that cleanliness is the half faith so to prevent infections and diseases.


Food should be covered

It is also recommended to us that food should be covered so to prevent it from passing insects’ spoliation. We are ordered to cover up utensils and tie water skins.


Circumcision compulsory

Islam’s this order is due the reason behind avoiding many diseases like urinary tract infection etc.


Wash genital part

The reason behind this order is to completely get rid of waste material from body so it’s a perfect way to avoid infection.


 Avoid blood consumption

Blood in our body is though a mean to make us alive, any less amount of it could make us feeling low and could be a cause of our death but its consumption is not allowed as it would cause infection if it would enter in our stomach. That’s the reason during slaughter; animal’s jugular vein should be cut in order that all blood should drain out.


Little nap after lunch

Prophet (peace be upon Him) was habitual of taking nap as it is explained in a Hadith that Umme Sulaima used to spread a sheet for His mid-day nap. This way many organs of the body, including heart and brain, get relief.


Five times prayer

Though a religious aspect, prayers provide us a kind of exercise where whole body gets full blood supply, especially brain, due to prayers’ steps. And its arrangement is also significant that prayers before meals are short and after meals are long which aids digestive system to work.
